Microblading Healing: The 30-Day Timeline, Day by Day

Your brows will not look their best on day three - and that is exactly how it should be. Healing is a predictable cycle, and knowing what each stage looks like is the difference between calm and panic-googling at midnight.

Microblading places pigment into the upper layer of the skin with fine, hair-like strokes. As the skin closes and renews itself over the following month, the colour you see changes almost daily. Every set of brows I have ever treated has moved through the same four stages - only the timing varies slightly with skin type.

DAYS 1-3: BOLD AND DARK

Straight after your appointment the strokes look crisp and noticeably darker than the final result. The pigment is still sitting at the surface, and a little lymph fluid mixes with it during the first 24 hours. This is the boldest your brows will ever look - enjoy it, photograph it, and do not judge the colour yet.

"THE GHOST WEEK IS THE MOMENT MOST CLIENTS MESSAGE ME. IT IS ALSO THE MOMENT EVERYTHING IS GOING RIGHT."

DAYS 4-10: FLAKING AND THE GHOST WEEK

Light flaking starts around day four. As the flakes lift, they often take surface pigment with them - and the strokes underneath can look faint, patchy, or almost gone. This "ghost week" is completely normal: the colour has not vanished, it is settling under a fresh layer of skin that has not turned transparent yet.

  • Do not pick or scratch the flakes - let them lift on their own.
  • Keep the area dry; cleanse around the brows, not over them.
  • No makeup on the brow area until the skin has fully closed.

DAYS 11-30: THE TRUE COLOUR SETTLES

From the second week the pigment gradually re-emerges, softer and more natural than the day-one intensity. By day 30 the skin has fully renewed and what you see is close to the healed result. This is when we assess together whether the retouch appointment needs to adjust shape, density or tone.

A retouch six to eight weeks after the first session is part of the treatment, not a correction. Skin heals unevenly by nature, and the second pass is where the design becomes truly durable.
