Can I Wear Makeup After Powder Brows? The First 14 Days

Short answer: yes to your usual makeup almost everywhere - just not on the brows themselves while the skin is healing. Here is the practical version of that rule, day by day.

DAYS 1-7: KEEP THE BROW AREA CLEAR

For the first week the treated skin is an open surface doing delicate work. Foundation, concealer, brow products and powders must stay off the brow area completely - makeup is not sterile, and brushes and sponges carry bacteria straight to healing skin. Eye makeup is best kept minimal for the first couple of days, then fine as long as removal stays well away from the brows.

  • Face makeup: yes, applied around and below the brow area.
  • Brow pencils, pomades, powders: not until the skin has fully closed.
  • Cleansing: around the brows with a fresh cotton pad, never scrubbing over them.
  • Retinoids and acids: pause them near the brow area throughout healing.

DAYS 8-14: FLAKING ENDS, PATIENCE CONTINUES

Once all flaking has finished - usually early in the second week - light makeup can return to the area if the skin looks and feels fully closed. If in doubt, give it two more days; fourteen days is the safe marker for most skins.

THE GOOD NEWS

The whole point of powder brows is that this fortnight of discipline buys you years of waking up with your brows already done. By week three most clients have thrown their brow pencil in a drawer - and many never take it out again.
