One of the more modern and fashion-forward trends in semi-permanent make up is freckle tattooing. Giving the illusion of natural, youthful sun-kissed beauty, if you have always dreamed of having freckles or are keen to maximise your pre-existing freckles, freckle tattooing may be the perfect treatment for you.

A semi-permanent treatment, freckle tattoos are made by machine, and use up to three different colours of 'freckle' to give a natural look. Whether it's a smattering across the bridge of your nose or a light dusting on your cheeks, adding freckles can also be applied to the shoulders and collarbones to give the impression of sun-kissed skin.

If you're feeling very brave or artsy, you can even ask Kseniia to give you heart-shaped freckles! Kseniia's artistic background means that she is the perfect practitioner for this kind of treatment, which requires an artistic eye for the perfect placement. The importance of where your new freckles are placed should not be overlooked! Where they are, and how many freckles you have tattooed can make all the difference between looking natural and enhancing your beauty, to them looking artificial and overdone. Freckles tattoos last on average, between 6 to12 months, depending on your skin type and skincare regime.

What is freckle tattooing?

Who is a freckle tattooing treatment suitable for?
It doesn't matter how old you are (as long as you are 18 – semi-permanent makeup is not for minors), you can enjoy the fun of freckle tattooing. Freckles can be applied on any skin tone, from very pale to very dark.

Does freckle tattooing hurt?
No, the area will be fully numbed before treatment so you will barely feel a thing. You may, however, find your urge to sneeze is triggered if you are having freckle tattoos on your nose! Be sure to warn Kseniia if you're about to sneeze during your treatment!

How much does freckle tattooing cost?

From £170 for freckle tattooing, including a full consultation and aftercare kit to take home with you.
Before your freckle tattooing treatment

Kseniia always gives semi-permanent and permanent makeup consultations as part of her service – this is booked in at the same time as your treatment, so any questions you have will be answered then.
While your skin will be fully cleansed and cleaned before treatment, it is advisable to come to your treatment without any makeup on.
As one of the very few freckle tattooing beauty lounges in the Gerrard's Cross and Beaconsfield area, Kseniia is very busy, and asks clients to arrive at her Gerrard's Cross permanent makeup studio 10 minutes before their treatment is due to begin.
With this treatment, it's a good idea to play around with your freckles before your treatment, using a dark brown eyeliner to map out where you would like them and how many you would like. Take photos and bring them with you to your appointment. If you have other photos of people with freckles that you like, bring them along too. Kseniia can then work with these, considering your own face, to map out their placement and ensure you are completely happy before she begins the process.

Freckle tattooing aftercare advice

AFTERCARE
Your freckle tattoos will fade over time and require occasional top ups to keep them at their best. Kseniia always recommends that freckle tattoo clients attend an initial top up treatment after 4-6 weeks, to ensure they are at their best and to maximise their longevity.

Freckles will fade faster if you regularly use chemical exfoliators such as AHAs or BHAs or glycolic acid, as these are designed to remove upper layers of the skin and to increase cellular turnover.

As with any semi-permanent makeup, Kseniia gives all her clients thorough aftercare advice following their treatment.

Once you have had your freckle tattooing treatment, there are some golden rules to follow, to ensure you get the best possible results. The good news is that aftercare for freckles tattoos is considerably less intensive than it is for other types of semi-permanent makeup.

⠀⠀⠀Keep the area as dry as possible after your post-treatment – avoid cleaning the area with anything other than the gentlest cleanser after treatment and if you do have a shower, keep it quick and ensure your new freckles are kept dry.

⠀⠀ ⠀Avoid makeup for a week after treatment that is over or near your new freckles. Lipstick is okay, blush, bronzer and foundation are a no. Take extra care if you use any eye makeup, as this can slide during wear.

⠀⠀ ⠀Avoid sweating for the first few days after treatment – so, again, if you are going to shower, be quick and use cooler water than usual and keep the bathroom well ventilated. Avoid saunas or swimming, and any activity that may cause you to perspire.

⠀⠀ ⠀Your new freckles will darken after treatment (and don't forget, you aren't going to be able to use makeup to cover this up). This is entirely normal and does not reflect the final outcome.

⠀⠀ ⠀ After a few days, you may notice the pigment beginning to scab and peel. It is extremely important to not pick at the scabs and to let them heal and fall of their own accord.

⠀⠀ ⠀After around a week, you may notice your new freckles start to fade. You may wonder if it was worth it! Don't worry – this is just a part of the natural healing process. It takes around four weeks before the skin is fully healed and your beautiful new semi-permanent makeup will be at its' best.

⠀⠀ ⠀Avoid scratching your new freckles. They may get itchy, but just gently pat the area with a cotton pad instead.
